### Can I use any colours in a QR code?
Any pair with enough difference in brightness. A scanner separates the code from its background by contrast, not by hue, so dark blue on pale yellow reads fine while mid-grey on white does not. This page measures the contrast of whatever you pick and says so before you print it.

### Can the code be lighter than the background?
Some phones manage it, many do not, and printed inverted codes fail often enough that it is not worth the risk on a sign you cannot easily reprint. Keep the pattern darker than what sits behind it.
