Email QR Code Generator

An email QR code opens a new message addressed to you, and can fill in the subject and body so the sender only has to press send.

Fill in: Email address

An email QR code holds a mailto: link — the address, and optionally a subject and a first message. Scanning it opens a new, already-addressed email in whatever mail app the phone uses, with the cursor waiting rather than a blank form. Nothing is sent until the sender presses send.

How to make a Email QR Code

  1. Type the address that someone actually reads — an orders@ or hello@ inbox rather than a personal one, if you have the choice.
  2. Add a subject that tells you where the scan came from, such as 'Catering enquiry — window card'.
  3. Write the message as the first line the sender would have had to type themselves, and leave the rest for them.
  4. Scan the preview with a phone that has a mail app set up, and check the subject and message arrive as you wrote them.
  5. Download the SVG and print it where someone has a reason to write to you rather than call.

Frequently asked questions

Which app opens when someone scans it?

Whichever mail app the phone treats as its default — Gmail, Apple Mail, Outlook, or another. If the phone has no mail account set up at all, the scan does nothing useful, which is the main reason a web form sometimes beats an email code.

Can I prefill the subject and the message?

Yes, both, and both are optional. The subject is the more useful of the two: it lets you tell one printed code from another when the mail arrives, without asking the sender to explain where they saw you.

Can I add a CC or BCC address?

Not with this tool. It fills in the recipient, the subject and the body, and nothing else. If a second person needs a copy, set up a forwarding rule on the inbox instead — that keeps working even for mail that arrives by other routes.

Will printing my address publicly attract spam?

It can. The address sits in plain text inside the code, so anything that can scan it can read it, including a photograph of your sign fed through a scanner. Use a role address you can replace rather than a personal one you cannot.

How long can the prefilled message be?

Technically very long, but every extra character makes the code denser and harder to scan from a distance. Keep the message under about 300 characters for anything printed smaller than a poster, and put the detail on a web page instead.
