Google Maps QR Code Generator

A Google Maps QR code opens your address in Google Maps, so a customer gets walking or driving directions without typing the address.

Coordinates work too, as latitude then longitude: 12.9716,77.5946. Pasting a Maps link uses that link unchanged.

Fill in: Address, place name, or coordinates

A Google Maps QR code holds a Maps link for one place. Scanning it opens that place in the Google Maps app, or on the Maps website when the app is not installed, with directions a tap away. The place can be an address, a business name, or a pair of coordinates — coordinates are the reliable choice when your entrance is not where the street address suggests.

How to make a Google Maps QR Code

  1. Type the address the way you would write it on an envelope, ending with the city and postcode.
  2. Or paste latitude then longitude, separated by a comma and no space, if the street address lands in the wrong place.
  3. Scan the preview and check the pin sits on your door rather than on the road behind the building.
  4. Download the SVG and print it on the thing people hold while they are lost — a flyer, a delivery note, a business card.

Frequently asked questions

Does it give directions, or just show the place?

It opens your address as a search result in Google Maps, with the Directions button one tap away. It does not start navigation on its own, which is the right behaviour — the scanner may be walking, driving, or just checking they are on the right street.

Can I use coordinates instead of an address?

Yes. Type the latitude, a comma, then the longitude — 12.9716,77.5946. Coordinates are worth using when the street address resolves to the wrong side of a building, or when the entrance is not on the road the address names.

Does it work on an iPhone?

Yes. The code holds a google.com/maps link, so an iPhone with Google Maps installed opens the app, and one without it opens the Maps website in Safari. It does not open Apple Maps.

My shop is not listed on Google — will this still work?

Yes. The address is searched as plain text, so Maps finds the street and drops a pin whether or not you have a business listing. A listing is still worth creating: it puts your name, hours and photos on that pin instead of a bare address.

Should I paste a Maps share link instead of typing the address?

You can, and the tool leaves a pasted link exactly as it is. A shortened maps.app.goo.gl link makes the smallest, easiest-to-scan code of the three options, because there is less text to encode.
