A phone number QR code holds a tel: link — the same kind of link that makes a number tappable on a web page. Scanning it opens the dialler with your number filled in, and stops there until the caller presses call. It is the shortest route from a printed sign to a ringing phone, and it removes the step where someone mistypes a digit.
How to make a Phone Number QR Code
- Type the number, starting with + and the country code if anyone might scan it from abroad.
- Check the preview against the number you actually answer — a printed code cannot be corrected later.
- Scan it with a second phone and confirm the dialler opens showing every digit.
- Download the SVG and print it beside the words 'call us', so it is obvious what the code does before anyone scans it.

Frequently asked questions
Does scanning it place the call?
No. It opens the dialler with your number already entered, and the caller still presses the call button. No phone will dial from a scan without a confirmation, which is why a code like this is safe to print in public.
Do I need the country code?
Only if someone might scan it while roaming or from another country. A number without a country code dials exactly as written, which works locally and fails abroad. Starting with + and the country code works in both cases, so it is the safer default.
Can I include an extension?
Not through this tool. It keeps the digits and a leading +, and removes everything else — so a pause comma or an ext= suffix is stripped rather than dialled. If the extension matters, use a vCard code, which carries the number as you typed it.
Should I use this or a vCard code?
Use this one when you want a call right now, from a shop sign or a service van. Use a vCard code when you want to be in their phone afterwards, from a business card — it saves your name, company and email as well as the number.
Does it work with a landline?
Yes. Any number that can be dialled can go in the code, including a landline, a toll-free number, or a shortcode. The scanner's phone treats it exactly as if they had typed it.
